The Minister’s Message

The Ministry of Peace is mandated by proclamation to fulfill several key objectives: ensuring the prevalence of comprehensive peace, strengthening national cohesion and unity, serving as a focal point for the federal system, and proactively preventing and managing conflict. To achieve these goals, the Ministry engages in diverse and multidimensional efforts.

The Ministry of Peace works in close collaboration and coordination with governmental bodies and relevant stakeholders in the non-governmental sector to fulfill the Ministry's mission.

Peacebuilding is not a task for government institutions alone. Just as a mountain is formed from countless small rocks, national peace is built through the individual contributions of each citizen. Peace has many stakeholders; it requires the participation of all. A key foundation for Ethiopia’s progress lies in enhancing the role of society in building sustainable peace and national cohesion. When an individual is at peace, their family experiences peace. This peace extends to the community, and when communities are at peace, the nation as a whole becomes peaceful.

The current chapter of our national journey calls for more than just hearing, it demands listening heart to heart. It requires focusing on solutions amid challenges, rather than dwelling on problems. We must move beyond self-interest and seek the common good so that, when difficulties arise, we respond with dialogue, consultation, and compromise. Now is the time to nurture this culture to ensure the holistic peace and development of our country. Understanding this imperative, we must commit ourselves to making it a reality.
